Second match of the afternoon in the second round of the Co-op Funeralcare International Open saw the Welsh Wizard, Jason Greenslade, up against Scotland’s Stewart Anderson in a mouth watering match. Greenslade needed this match to cement himself back into the top 16 as he stood on the brink of dropping out earlier at the start of the tournament. It was Anderson that opened up proceedings taking a 2-5 lead going into end five, Greenslade was 100% concentration and he stunned Anderson as he took a calm and deliberate double and went on to take an amazing single in end 6 to bring the score to 5 all. With both players edging each others bowls it was all Anderson could do to take a single in each of the next two ends to go two ahead of Greenslade. End eight and the Welsh Wizard struck with incredible accuracy to take a treble away from Anderson and set 8-7.
Set two and although Anderson took the first two ends with two great singles Greenslade levelled that taking a double on end three. Anderson retaliated taking a treble and a double in the next two ends to go 2-7 up and a tie break looked on the cards. BUT – the Welsh Wizard was having none of that and Greenslade just seemed to brush aside Anderson and proceeded to give a demonstration of outstanding bowls as he took the next four ends with a total of eight shots. Second set and match to a delighted Greenslade 10-7.
