In the afternoon matches Paul Hartley (Hartlepool) was up against Brian Hawkins (Clarrie Dunbar) and despite a valiant effort it was Hartley that polished off this match with a scoreline of 10-7, 14-2 and he goes through to the semis tomorrow to go against Danny Denison (Torquay) who beat Paul Maynard (Foxhills) in two straight sets this afternoon.
Billy Jackson (Lincoln) played Martin Williamson (Irvine) and here again it was Jackson that took the match in two straight sets to go against Trevor Taylor (Cumbria) tomorrow. Simon Skelton (Nottingham) was still in the fray as he sailed past Irvine’s Scott Bishop in straight sets to meet Blackpool’s Chris Gale who had a great game against Gary Smith (Durham) and it took a tie break win for Gale to come through to tomorrow.
Swale’s Perry Martin took out Blantye’s hopes of Charlie Bence in two straight sets 12-2, 7-6 and Martin goes through to tomorrow to face Blackpool Newton Hall’s Jason Parkinson who took out clubmate Richard Maddieson in 2 straight sets after a narrow tussle in the first set.
