Last match today was the final quarter final of the ‘Just’ 2018 Ladies World Indoor Singles Championships and in the line up tonight was local favourite, former winner, English International Rebecca Field who faced Irelands young gun of Chloe Watson who is the WIBC Reigning Ladies Singles Champion.
It was Watson that collected the first two ends of the first set with 3 shots and immediately put Field under pressure. Field responded magnificently to take the next 3 ends with a total of four shots. Chloe responded taking a single in end six to level the score at 4 all. With both players playing well they each took a single on the next two ends to go into the final end all square with 5 shots apiece. After the dust had settled it was Field that picked off a single shot to take the first set 6,5.
Set two saw Field start the proceedings by taking three shots over the first two ends. Young Watson dug her heels in and responded with some brilliant bowls to make a double on end three. It was Field in end four that played some brilliant bowls to take a single of Watson, then it was Watson’s turn to turn on the brilliance as she made maximum effort and took a treble away from Field to go one ahead in end five. The match was intense as both ladies continued to fight to take the next couple of ends and by end 7 the score was 7 all. It was Field that managed to hold of a superb challenge from young gun Watson over the next two ends to take the second set 9,7 and match and Field goes through to the semi finals where she faces Janice Gower on Wednesday 24th at 7.30pm.
