First match today in the second round of the Scottish International Open hosted by Live Active at the Dewars Centre, Pert was between Scotland’s Darren Burnett and England’s Mervyn King
Burnett opened up proceedings in the first set taking to singles off King but it the Englishman that then pounced right back with a treble and a double in the next two ends. Over the next three ends it was a bit of a scrap to bring the scoreline 3,7 to King. Burnett fought hard to take a single in end eight but it was King that took a treble in end nine to steal the first set 4,10.
The second set and just nothing went right at all for Burnett. King was playing well but it was Burnett that just missed his line on a few occasions and by end four it was 0,6 to King. Burnett kept fighting though and was rewarded with a single in end five. King swiped back a single in end six, Burnett a double in end seven but it was to no avail as King closed the second set and match out 3,8.
