The final match of the afternoon was the pairs match between the winners of the English Pairs playoff, Paul Maynard & James Rippey up against the duo of Les Gillett and Jason Greenslade from within the WBT World Top 16.
Gillett & Greenslade opened up taking a quick three count on the first end but this was swiftly rebuffed as Maynard & Rippey took the next two ends with a single and a treble. Gillett & Greenslade took a double on the next to level the score at 5 all but it was Maynard & Rippey that took the next three ends with three singles to take the first set 5,8.
Second set was a much tighter affair with some really good bowls played by both pairs throughout and by end six it was a mere 4 all. Final end it was Gillett & Greenslade that managed to grab a two count and set at 6,4. Into the tie break, first end to Gillett and Greenslade but it was Maynard and Rippey that took the next two ends to seal the tie break and match with a scoreline of 5,8 - 6,4 - 1,2.
