New Zealander, Murray Glassey, was up against a tough draw which was 6 times World Indoor Champion, Alex Marshall MBE. Marshall, who had recently been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sport Scotland was in top form and brimming with confidence.
Unfortunately for Glassey, no matter what the New Zealander did, Marshall had an answer and he simply was the best on the day. Time and time again Glassey would hold shot only for Marshall to whip it away end after end throughout the whole of the match. Many times Glassey would be holding shot but Marshall always seems to find the wonder bowl and Marshall took both sets with a scoreline of 10,2 – 10,2. It was genuinely not that Glassey was poor, just that Marshall was absolutely on top of his game and always found that extra edge to take the counts.
