In the first of the semi finals here at Blackpool Newton Hall Holiday Park in the Co-operative Funeralcare European Masters it was a defiant Brian Hawkins that took young Connor Cinato to the first tie break of the event. In the first set Cinato went 4-0 ahead by the third end before Hawkins managed to get a treble on the fourth. Cinato swiftly nullified that by taking a triple in end 5, then Hawkins repeating with a triple in the 6th to take the score 6-7 to Cinato. Ends 7 & 8 saw each player take a single and it was Hawkins that took a final double to take the first set 9-8.
Into the second set and again the two players were at top form as they went to 4 all in the 5th end - and then the wheels came off for Hawkins as he seemed to lose his weight and did not get another shot on the card to lose the 2nd set 4-9. Into the tie break and it was a superb confident Cinato that drew to the jack with inch perfect bowls to take the first two ends to take the match 9-8, 4,9, 0,2
