Harlow joins the ranks in the quarters

24 January, 2017
Harlow was the first player to book his berth in the quarter finals leaving it until the very last bowl of his tiebreak match against Anglo Scot James Rippey who now lives in Halstead, Essex, and who won through from a qualifying event to seal his place in the event proper and who took his place in the second round at the expense of Paisley’s number 13 seed Jonathan Ross.

Harlow took the opening set 9-3, but a storming finish from Rippey in the second saw him chalk up a single and an amazing treble to win 11-10 and force a tie break. He won the opening end and held a match winning position on the last but a wonder strike from Harlow removed Rippey’s two holding shots to move through 2-1 and book his quarter final on Friday morning against the winner of the match between Scotland’s David Gourlay and Neil Furman from the USA.
