Harlow defies injury to drum out taylor

8 November, 2016

Greg Harlow’s title defence continued today with his second round game against Cumbrian Trevor Taylor. The score went Harlows way early to stand at 6.3 after six ends, Having suffered an injury during yesterdays first round encounter, Harlow, seemed to be moving a little more freely today and managed to tie the first set up 8.3.

Back to his usual impressive form, in the second set, Harlow piled on the pressure holding four at the first end with Taylor one shot left to come. Taylor strikes and hits the target. The jack goes on the re spot and Harlow still hangs onto a three. Taylor hung in to tie the scoreline back up at 4.4 after four ends, then took the lead at the next end when the jack was ditched. End six and Taylor had an unlucky drive, just rocking the Harlow’s bowl so we are all square 5.5. All very close at the next two ends but Harlow chalks up a one and a two count to lead 8.5 playing the last. A big ask for the Cumbrian qualifier against the No 1 seed. An ask to far and it’s Harlow who takes the set 9.5 and sets up a clash with Wayne Willgress in the quarterfinals.
