Scotland’s David Gourlay faced up against Englands Mark Royal in the second of today’s quarter finals and the first set was a great nip and tuck affair. Gourlaqy got of to a great start going 5-1 up by the 4th end but Royal struck back taking a treble in the 5th. Taking a single apiece in the next two ends it was end 8 where Royal took a double to go 1 in the lead. In the final end it was great bowls from Gourlay that gave Gourlay a double to take the set 8-7. Into the second set and it was a great start from both with the score tied at 3 all on the 5th end. Then Gourlay struck with damaging accuracy taking two double and a single in the next three ends to take the score to 8-3 and closed out the set and match.
