Gillett through to second round in the Open Singles

It was England’s No 5 seed. Les Gillett who was up against Irish Qualifier Scott Jess in the first match of the afternoon in the first round of the ‘Just’ 2020 World Indoor Open Singles Championship.

Firs set and it was very quickly obvious that Les Gillett was the stronger of the two as he quickly overpowered a struggling Scott Jess on the portable rink. 6,2 up by the fifth end it was Gillett that took the first set in 8 ends to a conclusion of 12,2.

Going into the second set it was Gillett that was on top of his game as he again went 5,2 ahead of Jess by the fifth end. Jess did try to make a comeback but could only get two shots away from Gillett over the remainder of the set and it was Gillett that also took the second set and match. 8,4. Gillett goes through to the second round early next week.
