The first match of this afternoon’s session here at Potters Resort in the ‘Just’ 2020 World Indoor Championships was between the Ace pair from Scotland, Paul Foster MBE & Alex Marshall MBE against the PBA Qualifiers Paul Maynard & James Rippey who had already battled their way through to this first quarter final match.
Firs set and it was Maynard and Rippey that took the first two ends with a single and then a double count, however, in end three it was the Scottish aces that took a three count to level it all. End four and it was Maynard & Rippey that took a count of 2. The standard of bowls was superb from all four players but it was Foster and Marshall that finished off the set by taking five shots over the next two ends with a response of only a single. Set score 8,6.
Second set and it was Foster and Marshall that stepped up a pace and they took the first three ends with five shots. Maynard and Rippey managed a double in the fourth end but again it was the ace duo that sealed the set and match with a four followed with a single to take the second set 10,2
