It was Australian Trentan Healey that came out to face the 5 times World Indoor Champion from Scotland, Paul Foster MBE to fight for a place in tomorrow’s quarter finals of the Co-op Funeralcare International Open here at Newton Hall Holiday Park in Blackpool. Healey knew he had a tough match on his hands and certainly was totally concentrated. By the close of end 3 though Foster was 0-5 up but Healey seemed unperturbed as he took a treble off Foster in the fourth end. Healey was playing well and it was all Foster could do to take a single in the fifth end to go 3-6 up. A determined Healey though continued to produce outstanding bowls and took the next three ends with two doubles and a single to go 8-6 up. Foster though, was just as determined, and he produced cracking bowls to take a double and force the first set into a tie at 8 all.
Into the second set and yet again it was Foster that opened up going 5-1 in the lead by the end of the third. Healey managed a cheeky single in the fourth but it was Foster that stole it away with two trebles in the next two ends. Healey continued to fight back though and took a great double in end seven and went into end eight with fierce determination and precision bowls - Healey lay a great three to recover the set but it was Fosters last bowl that just tipped against a previous bowl to cut the count down to a double - not enough for Healey and Foster goes through to the quarter final with a set score of 8,8 - 11,6.
