In a last match clash it was an all Scottish affair between Scotlands qualifier, Graeme MacDougall and the world number 3, Paul Foster MBE.
The firsts set saw both players finding their way a little bit but it was Foster that found his magic first, though he did have to produce inch perfect bowls to do so. By end five it was 7-4 to Foster and both took a single apiece in the next two ends. Foster played a great bowl to steal away a single in end eight and finished the set taking a hard earned three in the last end. Set score 12-5 but that most definitely does not reflect the bowls that were played.
Second set and Foster had raised his game, he had to as MacDougall was playing consistent good bowls. By end six it was all square at 4 each, MacDougall taking the next end with a single. End eight and it was tight with MacDougall holding second bowl. Foster took a great decision and played an exact inch perfect timing shot and lifted MacDougall’s bowl clean to leave Foster with a count of three and go 7-5 in the lead. MacDougall though came back in end nine and yet again it was Foster that played the inch perfect bowls to take a double and second set. 9,5.
