Second match of the afternoon was between Scotland’s Paul Foster MBE and England qualifier Scott Edwards. Edwards was looking to make his mark in this event and was most certainly up for this match. Into set one and it was Foster on the card first with a double on the first end. Edwards then took the next three ends with a three and then two singles to go three ahead of Foster 2,5. End five and it was Foster that took a great double from Edwards but it was Edwards in the next end that played a great bowl to take a single. Into end seven and Foster managed to hold onto a single count and then took a double in the next to go 7,6 ahead. Final end of the set and it was a brilliant bowl from Edwards to take a single and the set was a tied finish at 7 all.
Second set and Foster seemed to up a gear and he was 7,0 ahead by the seventh end. Edwards did not give up though and continued to make it extremely hard for Foster which resulted in a double on the eigth end leaving Edwards a massive task to attempt to tie the set to force a tie break – it was not too be for Edwards as he only made a double and Foster took the set and match 7,7 – 7,5.
