Defending champion Ellen Falkner from Ely booked her berth in tomorrow’s Ladies matchplay singles title decider against former winner Kathering Rednall

A winner of the title three times since 2006, 38 year old Falkner held on in both sets to deny English compatriot Janice Gower 6-5, 8-7.

In the first set Gower had a slow start and was 6-1 down by the 5th end. Gower then started to find her way on the portable and valiently fought against an on form Falkner. A storming finish saw Gower narrowly miss out 6-5 after chalking up singles on each of the last four ends.
In the second set it was a close fought match with it at 4 all by the 5th end.The 6th end saw Falkner swipe a single away but Gower responded with a double on the 7th to go 5-6 up. Into the 8th end and Falkner was holding several shots and although Gower tried to make something happen it was Falkner who collected a massive treble to take her into the lead 8-6. With some good lead bowls Falkner denied Gower the three needed to force a tie break and Gower collected a single to leave Falkner as match winner and into tomorrows final.
