Defending Champion over first hurdle

6 March, 2016

The Co-operative Funeralcare International Open here at Blackpool Newton Hall Holiday Park started off with a bang as Gary Smith faced off defending Champion and Reigning World Indoor Champion Nick Brett. It seemed as if Nick had gone out there with the motto ” anything you can do I can do better” and no matter what Smith did, indeed, Brett went one better.

Smith did not play at all badly but it was Brett that found the big bowl when needed at almost every end and left Smith wondering just what he had to do to get in front. It was all to no avail though as Brett took game set and match in two clean sets. 9-7, 12-2
