Second match of the afternoon was Ireland’s PBA Qualifier, Stuart Bennett, up against England’s Mark Dawes on the blue rink.
It really was Dawes that entered this in the right mind set and he soon proved that he was fully focused on getting the job done. He powered his way to a 9,4 lead by end six in the first set and really only dropped a big three in end eight. He sealed the set 12,7.
Second set and Bennett had settled in a bit better and was giving Dawes a little run for hios money but Dawes just upped his game a little and no matter what Bennett produced. Dawes went one better. By end five Dawes was 6,2 up, he took a further single in end six. Bennett responded with a single in end seven but it was Dawes that sealed the second set and match with a double on end eight. 9,3.
