The second match of the afternoon in the Mixed Pairs Championships was between the pairings of England’s Nick Brett and Marion Purcell from Wales up against the Scottish duo of Stewart Anderson and Lorna Cameron.
Capacity audience in the arena were enthralled with yet another thrilling semi final as four players turned on a great display of top flight bowls. It was Anderson & Cameron that started first with two singles in the first two ends, Brett and Purcell taking end three with a double. End four and Anderson and Cameron managed a single but it was an outstanding performance from Brett and Purcell to take the remaining three ends with two doubles and a single to complete the first 7,3.
Second set was again a tight and hard fought affair, at end four it was only 3 all. Brett and Purcell though managed to take a single count on ends five and six to go 5,3 ahead, room yet for Anderson and Cameron to try for a three and force the much needed tie break but it was all they could do to manage to get a single so it was Brett and Cameron for the second set and match.5,4. They go through to the final where they face Harlow and Merrien - another great line up and match to watch.
