anderson still in top form

In the start of World Indoor Open Singles first round it was Scotland’s Stewart Anderson, reigning Scottish International Open Champion, up against the Scottish Qualifier from Falkirk Indoor Bowls Club, Colin Walker, a respected and well known Scottish International Player.

The opening set saw Anderson carrying on with the form that he had found in the Scottish International Open and by end three he was 6,2 up on Walker. Taking another triple count in end four it was all Walker could do to try to stop him running away with the set and he managed to get a two count in end five. End six and again it was another two to Anderson but again Walker set about and managed to hold onto a two in end seven but this still left him with a mountain to scale needing five shots over the next two ends. Anderson moved in for the kill and denied Walker with a last bowl to take shot and the first set 12,6.

Set two and Walker fought back hard to go one shot ahead by end four at 4,5. And picked up a single and a double in the first two ends but then dropped a massive four in end three to undo the good start. Walker continued the fightback and took two shots on end four to go one ahead but then Anderson again bounced straight back with a single in end five to level the set at five all. Walker then dropped a three against the devilish Anderson in end six but bounced back in the next two ends to make it eight all. Into the last end and Walker played a perfect lead bowl but yet again it was Anderson with complete precision that drew millimetre perfect and took the shot. Not to be outdone Walker was almost there again but fractionally out and no matter what he did he just could not wrest the shot away from Anderson so the second set went 9,8 and it is Anderson that returns next Tuesday to go into the second round of the World Indoor Open Singles.
