anderson & cameron take last space in the mixed pairs

17 January, 2020

Last match of the day here in the International Arena at Potters Resort in the ‘Just’ 2020 World Indoor Mixed Pairs Championships was in front of a packed arena and featured Scotland’s duo of Stewart Anderson and Lorna Cameron up against England’s Les Gillett and Rhonda Adams from New Zealand.

Gillett bowls with Anderson, Adams and Cameron looking on.

The first set was a really tight affair which became a battle of the skips, Anderson and Gillett. By the close of end three it was 4,3 to Cameron/Anderson and they followed this up with a double count in four. to go 6,3 in the lead. One to each pair in the next two ends brought it to 7,4 for Cameron/Anderson. A superb effort by skip Gillett nearly led to a three but when the dust settled it was only a count for two and Cameron/Anderson took the first set 7,6.

The second set it was all square at end four at 3 all. From then on though it was a valient effort by skip Gillett to hold off an on form Anderson as he was reponsible for taking the next three ends with two doubles and a single to close the set and match out 8,3.
