Paxton makes the quarter finals in the World Indoor Open Singles

First match here today on Thursday 25th January 2018 was Leicester’s dynamic Les ‘Razor’ Gillett, ranked at No 11 in the World on the WBT list up against World Ranked No. 6, Robert Paxton. The first set it was Paxton that got off to a decent start taking a triple and a single in the first two ends. Not to be outdone Gillett then responded taking a double and a treble straight back in the next to ends to be one shot ahead of Paxton going into end five. Both players were playing great bowls by end seven it was a 7 all score. The next two ends saw precision bowls being played by both and they each got one per end to finish the set in an 8 all draw.

The second set was again a great match with incredible bowls from both but it was Paxton that was ahead by the close of end five at 2,5. Gillett picked of a neat double on end six but to avail as Paxton just made the finishing touch in the last two ends to take the second set and match 4,9.
