Robert Paxton lined himself up against Neil Furman from the USA and it was Paxton all the way through. Furman, just recently competed at the World Indoor Singles Championships could not live with the devastating bowls from a clearly on form Paxton. Despite Furman holding several ends and playing reasonably well it was Paxton that kept finding the big bowl when needed and he closed out Furman to take the first set 9-3. Into the second set and it was Paxton that got ahead to a good start and leaving Furman having to attempt big conversion shots to stay in the match - all to no avail as Paxton took the second set and match. 9-3, 12-3
