Holt & Cann bow out of the World Championships

13 January, 2017

In the first match of the evening here at Potters Resort in the Just 2017 World Indoor Open Pairs it was Gourlay and King who saw off the Aussie’s Holt and Cann. In the first set it was a great game of nip and tuck as both pairs tried to out fox each other on the famous blue portable rink. With Gourlay and King taking 4 ends to Holt and Cann’s 3 ends the set score was 9-6 to Gourlay and King.

Into the second set it seemed as if Gourlay and King had raised their game even further as they just powered right through Holt and Cann. Whenever the Aussie pair built a head it was Gourlay that simply demolished it. He only failed on two ends with this strategy and took the second set 12-3. Whilst Holt and Cann did play well it was the duo of Gourlay and King that go through to the quarter finals to face Scotland’s Darren Burnett and Stewart Anderson on Saturday 14th.
