Foster & Field set to challenge Gourlay & Murphy

20 January, 2017
It was virtually standing room only, with the full house signs  on display in the Potters Arena at Hopton on Sea today where the very popular Mixed Pairs Championship took centre stage at the ‘Just.’ World Indoor Championships with the spectators certainly getting their money’s worth with  four enthralling quarter final matches keeping them on the edge of their seats.
It was another blockbuster in the second match with twice former winner Paul Foster teaming up for the second  year in succession with Rebecca Field f rom Ispwich against 2015 holder Rob Paxton and reigning Ladies Matchplay singles champion Ellen Falkner.

The match could have gone either way, with the result swaying one way then they other, but a treble on the fifth end of the second set was instrumental in Foster’s 5-5, 6-3 victory. “It was a terrific match” said Foster later.  “Nothing was safe and you just had to keep you head down and your concentration going and hope for the best”.
They go through to the semi finals on Sunday 22nd where they face Scotland’s David Gourlay and Australia’s Karen Murphy, another tough match on the cards.
