8 November, 2017

The final game of the day was another England v Scotland line up. Scot David Gourlay played England’s Mark Royal. Gourlay, in impressive form this week, took the first set 8.6. The second set Royal kept in the game and at five ends the score line was in Royals favour 3.2. End six and Gourlay played four very close bowls but only held one shot till Royal took his own bowl out with his last delivery and Gourlay went in the lead with a count of three shots and went into the lead 5.3. Another shot at end seven and Gourlay was in charge of matters out on the blue portable rink and finished off the set with a 6.6 score. “When you get to this stage of an event its always hard, but I felt I played well when I needed to,” said Gourlay. “Tomorrow will be another tough game against Nick and I will have to be on my top form to give myself a chance.” Gourlay faces Nick Brett in the first of tomorrows quarter finals.
