First match of the afternoon session was between top seed Stewart Anderson against the Co-op Funeralcare wildcard for the Scottish International Open - Michael Stepney from Elgin. When Stepney was given the wildcard he said he was delighted and would do his best.
In the first set it was Anderson that struggeld against Stepney. It was Stepney that pulled away from Anderson with ease as he went to take the set 3-9. Into the second set and it was a role reversal as Anderson found his form and simply demolished Stepney 12-2 and forced the tie break. Stepney seemed to rise and gather his skills as he found some incredible bowls and brave shaots and took the first two ends of the tie break and match. Stepney now goes through to the second round next week where he faces this mornings winner, Perry Martin.
