Nick Brett, World No 6, stepped up against Michael Stepney, now ranked at No 13 in the WBT World Rankings for the second match of the afternoon in the Scottish International Open.
THe first set was a real nip and tuck between the two players, neither getting the advantage over the other in a closely fought first set. This really showed as we reached end six with a 3 all scoreline. Both players took two shots apiece over the next two ends to be 5 all in end eight. The final end and it was Brett that just pipped Stepney to the post for the last single and it was Brett to take the set 6,5
The second set was again a highly contested effort from both players but with Brett getting the single shots away from Stepney to go into a 6,1 lead by end six. Stepney managed to take a single in end seven but it was Brett that managed to get a double away in end eight to seal set two and the match 8,2. This is a match well worth the watch on the worldbowlstour facebook stream.
